Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
